The mission of the Department of Economics and Enterprise Management is to train highly qualified specialists in the fields of economics and management, possessing a substantial body of contemporary knowledge and professional skills in these areas.
The Department contributes to the socio-economic development of the region. Its staff members have the necessary scientific qualifications and conduct advanced research and development projects in the socio-economic field. The Department is equipped with appropriate educational and support facilities.
The Department of Economics and Enterprise Management has a strong team of economists, including 3 Doctors of Science and 10 Candidates of Science, actively engaged in research in their respective fields.
The goal of the Department’s development is to create conditions for students to master the Federal State Educational Standards and acquire the practical skills necessary for their future profession. Achieving this goal requires an effective educational process.
To realize the main objective of Kalmyk State University — providing high-quality educational and scientific-consulting services — the Department’s development is carried out along the following key directions:
- Organization and execution of educational and methodological work in the disciplines assigned to the Department using modern teaching methods;
- Conducting research in the Department’s profile and publishing results (monographs, articles, textbooks, collections);
- Enhancement of the Department’s academic staff through
- postgraduate training;
- professional development of teaching staff.
- Improvement of educational program quality (training within a credit-rating system; student self-assessment through tests and exams);
- Stable functioning and development of the Department through clear regulation of duties, powers, and responsibilities of staff, combining rigor, democratic management, and strict adherence to labor and academic ethics;
- Development of a system for assessing the quality of the Department’s educational work.

The Department hosts the research school "Economics and Management of Sectors and Complexes Based on an Innovative Approach." Head: Doctor of Economics, Professor Tamara Tavinovna Tsatkhlanova.
To foster students’ interest in their chosen profession and develop research skills, the student research club "Economist" has been established within the research school.
