About the Department

Department Mission

The Department of Economic Security sees its mission in training highly qualified specialists and master’s students who are motivated for development and personal growth, possess a high level of knowledge, are capable of self-development, and have active potential. Their work is aimed at professionally supporting the stable functioning of business entities of all forms of ownership in the region, organizing scientific and practical activities based on the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the field of economics, and implementing an effective model of social partnership between the department and employers.

The Department of Economic Security, Accounting, and Finance sets the following main objectives:

  • training scientific and pedagogical personnel, including through master’s, postgraduate, and doctoral programs; improving their qualifications;
  • conducting research in the fields of economic security, financial, managerial, and tax accounting, analysis, and auditing;
  • carrying out contractual research projects in the interests of enterprises across the national economy sectors;
  • conducting educational and career guidance activities with students.

The staffing of the department, scientific and pedagogical potential, and organization of educational activities comply with licensing and accreditation requirements. All department staff have relevant higher education degrees.

The training of students and master’s students in the Department of Economic Security, Accounting, and Finance is provided by 13 faculty members, including part-time staff (1 internal, 1 external); among them, 2 hold a Doctor of Science degree, and 6 hold a Candidate of Science degree. Two professors and six associate professors hold academic titles. The department plans to increase the proportion of faculty with advanced degrees according to an approved schedule for defending candidate and doctoral dissertations.

Faculty members continuously work on improving the methodological support for the training of specialists at the bachelor’s, specialist, and master’s levels. Electronic communication tools are actively used to present educational and methodological materials to students. In addition, faculty widely employ interactive teaching technologies, such as business games, discussions, and round tables.

Main Research Directions

The research potential of the department is realized through national and regional scientific competitions, internal university research activities, as well as research funded by Russian and international scientific foundations, which serves as recognition of the results achieved.

Student Research Achievements

In 2021, six students of the "Economic Security" program, under the guidance of Associate Professor E.S. Kovanova, participated in the All-Russian Student Statistics Olympiad. Student D. Boraev became a prize-winner of the Open International Student Internet Olympiad in Statistics, securing 2nd place.

First-year student Y. Yavashkeeva in "Economic Security" won 3rd place in the International Internet Olympiad in the Russian language.

Third-year student V.N. Klevakina in "Economic Security" received a 2nd-degree diploma in the III Regional "Abilympics" Championship.

Volunteers from the Financial Team, students of "Economic Security," received a 3rd-degree diploma in the Championship for the computer business simulator game "Corporate Management" (Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation).

Research Results of the Department Faculty

In 2023, the department’s faculty research activities will continue under RFBR grants, internal university grants, and contractual topics.

An important result of the department’s research work is the participation of faculty in international, national, and regional scientific-practical and scientific-methodological conferences.

In 2021, a monograph titled "Modern Approaches to Assessing the Effectiveness of Regional Projects and Programs from the Perspective of Human Capital Development" was published, containing intermediate research results from the project "Conceptual Approaches to Assessing Regulatory Impact on Human Capital Development."

In 2021, faculty members published 78 research papers (compared to 99 in 2020), including 23 articles in journals listed by the Higher Attestation Commission (compared to 44 in 2020). Six articles were published in international journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science (compared to 14 in 2020).
